Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
At Ashchurch Primary School we recognise that some of the children in our care have additional needs which will require us to adapt and personalise what we offer to ensure that all children can achieve to their full potential.
We are very proud of our wonderful teaching assistants, talented teachers and qualified SENDCo who enable us to meet the needs of all pupils.
We run a variety of interventions to support pupils such as:
- Daily reading programmes
- Phonic development
- Handwriting groups
- Nurture groups
- Reading comprehension groups
- Speaking & Listening Groups
- Behaviour support groups
All of these and many more are continually reviewed and any data to support their impact monitored.
If we feel that at any stage in your child’s education they would benefit from additional support, we will contact you promptly to discuss arrangements.
Equal Opportunities
At Ashchurch Primary School we aim to give children a broad educational experience which celebrates the richness and diversity of the society in which we live. We believe that girls and boys have an equal right to develop the skills they will need in order to live a full and happy life. We will avoid gender stereotyping and give girls and boys equal opportunities to undertake all activities.
We are opposed to racism and racist behaviour, we will challenge instances of this should they occur and we will actively promote racial equality.
We believe that neither background nor intellectual ability is related to a person’s worth as a member of society and we actively encourage the children to believe this.
Our school SENDCo is Mrs Bushell.
Mrs Bushell works Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and is always available to discuss any concerns that you may have.
Alternatively, she can be contacted by email at [email protected].
