The Big Picture

LEARNING MEANS THE WORLD LOGO.jpg

Through Learning Means the World, our children are split into 4 age groups. These groups are Explorers (EYFS), Pathfinders (KS1), Adventurers (LKS2) and Navigators (UKS2). Each of the thematic units taught in each age group aim to develop different traits and skills in the children as they progress through their learning pathway. These are as follows:

The 4Cs - 4 key world issues - underpin Learning Means the World.  Click the links below to see the road maps for each which detail the key concepts for each phase.

Essential Learning Experiences (ELEs) are planned into every theme we teach. Sometimes these kickstart the learning with an exciting launch; sometimes they come midway through the learning such as children interviewing an expert and sometimes they are a celebration of learning at the end of the theme. Click below to see the ELEs planned for our children within each theme:

Each age group has designated. age-appropriate Learning Traits which you can see under the images at the top of this page.  Each  trait has related skills - ‘soft skills’, as opposed to subject specific skills, which are progressive across the school: Explorers > Pathfinders > Adventurers > Navigators. Whilst subject-specific knowledge and skills are vital, these transferable skills play a huge part in preparing our children for life in modern Britain.  Click the characters below to see the skills our children learn in each phase.
